1. Calling on Candidates to Complete League Questionnaire

2. Redrawing the Boundaries: Midwest Democracy Network Redistricting Forum

The League of Women Voters of Wisconsin Education Fund has joined with other groups in calling on candidates for Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Attorney General and state legislature to state their positions on issues that are central to honest, accountable government. Among other issues, a League questionnaire asks candidates about specific reforms designed to reduce the influence of special interests in elections and to promote a fair and transparent process for drawing legislative district lines in 2011.

Write to your candidates or send a letter to your local newspaper. Tell candidates to respond to the questionnaire by the deadline of Friday, August 6, 2010. The candidates' responses will be linked from the League's website. Read the questions here.

Redistricting was the topic of a forum yesterday in the State Capitol sponsored by the Brennan Center for Justice, George Mason University and the Midwest Democracy Network. You can view the entire forum on Wisconsin Eye.  More information can be found at MidwestRedistricting.org.
