Two League members from Wisconsin will attend the Global Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen December 7-17. They will serve as Observer-Delegates from the League of Women Voters of the United States.

Ellyn Bromberg , Director, League of Women Voters of Milwaukee County, and Claire Vanderslice, President, League of Women Voters of Ozaukee County, will advocate for the League’s climate change positions along with 6 other League members nationally. Vanderslice and Bromberg will urge the United States to sign a climate change agreement with other countries represented at the conference.  To read about the LWVUS position on climate change, click here.

Approximately 20,000 people from around the globe are expected to attend the Copenhagen conference, including President Barack Obama, ministers from 45-60 countries and several members of Congress.

Bromberg and Vanderslice will report on their Copenhagen Climate Change Conference experiences at a joint Milwaukee-Ozaukee County League of Women Voters program during Earth Week, April 2010.   The meeting will be open to the public and announced at www.lwvmilwaukee.org.

The League of Women Voters of Door County and the 2010 Census

LWV Door County was featured recently in two presentations about the special role of nonprofits in achieving an accurate count for Wisconsin in the 2010 Census.  The Door County League offered an example of what a small nonprofit can do to make a difference.  As an active member of the Door County Complete Count Committee, the League is participating in a variety of activities.  They were featured in a November 24 webinar co-sponsored by the LWVWI Education Fund and other groups and again in a session at the Wisconsin Community Action Program Association's annual Poverty Matters Conference. The session was co-presented by the LWVWI executive director and Debby Meyer Anderson of Wisconsin Democracy Campaign. To view just the slides with the LWV Door County activities, click here
