1. Legislative update 2. How to follow League advocacy
The state Assembly on Tuesday unfortunately failed to override the Governor's veto of AB 138, the bill that would have made the Department of Natural Resources secretary once again a position appointed by a citizen board. Click here to see how your representative voted. On Wednesday, the League testified in support of AB 721,
which would reverse some of the damage done to Public, Educational and
Government (PEG) Access channels by passage of the Video Competition
bill in 2007. An Assembly committee Thursday voted in favor of a bill allowing local governments to provide for public financing for their local elections and to impose campaign finance regulations and limits beyond those required by the state.
